Kingsland Sanitary Sewer Improvement Overview.png

THE PLAN

The Kingsland Sanitary Sewer Improvements project was designed to upgrade and expand wastewater infrastructure throughout the town of Kingsland, improving service reliability and connecting a new gravity sewer to the existing system in Murray. The plan included deep lift station construction, grinder pump installations, and utility crossings to ensure the system could meet long-term capacity and operational needs.

THE WORK

Construction was completed in phases over 2023 and 2024:

2023: Installed 2,300 LF of gravity sewer with corresponding structures and sanitary laterals, and constructed a 26-foot-deep lift station. A railroad jack-and-bore was completed to safely cross the active rail line.

2024: Installed 20,000 LF of 6” forcemain connecting the new gravity sewer to the existing Murray lift station, along with 49 grinder pump stations and 10,500 LF of 1½”–2” forcemain to serve individual connections.

This work required precise coordination, careful sequencing, and adherence to strict safety standards due to deep excavations, railroad crossings, and multiple service connections.

THE RESULTS

The project successfully expanded wastewater service throughout Kingsland, improved overall system reliability, and connected new and existing infrastructure seamlessly. Delivered under a $3.3 million contract, the improvements provide long-term operational efficiency and demonstrate VTF Excavation’s expertise in complex municipal sewer projects.
