Timberridge Sanitary & Dustman Interceptor

THE PLAN
The Timberridge Sanitary and Dustman Interceptor project was designed to upgrade and expand Bluffton’s sanitary sewer system, improving reliability and capacity while rehabilitating aging infrastructure. The plan included deep gravity sewer and force main installations, bedrock excavation, lift station upgrades, and directional drilling to minimize surface disruption.
THE WORK
VTF Excavation installed 19,750 LF of 8”–12” gravity sanitary sewer with depths over 28’ and 1,050 LF of sanitary laterals for the Timberridge system, including a 32’ deep lift station and 207 CY of bedrock excavation. Crews also installed 10,000 LF of 10” HDPE force main and 2,000 LF of 2” force main using directional drilling to minimize disruption.
For the Dustman Interceptor, the team installed 10,100 LF of 8“–24” gravity sanitary sewer at depths over 25’ and completed two existing lift station rehabilitations, requiring precise sequencing, coordination, and strict safety protocols throughout deep excavations and directional drilling operations.
THE RESULTS
The project successfully expanded and modernized Bluffton’s sanitary sewer network, providing reliable service, increased capacity, and improved infrastructure longevity. This project was delivered on-time and on-budget, demonstrating VTF Excavation’s ability to execute large-scale, complex municipal sewer projects safely and efficiently.
